Zuma Dogg Spins For LAX Living Wage Increase (Pro-Argument)

Regarding LAX Living Wage to be placed on ballot: Continued today (Friday), AGAIN. (Third time, I think.) Hmmm....could it be, not enough votes yet, from Council at this point.

Only other option: Repeal the ordinance and start over and renegotiate a new deal with hotel owners, then pass a new ordinance.

Supporters of LAX increase say, "Due to the high cost of living in this city (especially housing); and the fact that the City doesn't have enough high paying jobs, cause they all went over seas, are in New York or San Fran...So if we even want to be able to have a full staff of "eager to please" hotel workers to serve our tourists and business clients, we are gonna have to falsely "goose" things a bit, or they'll have the same problem LAPD is having. No new recruits because they won't be able to afford to even continue to show up for work. So if the hotels, that basically have a monopoly in the area (because City GAVE them pemission to operate on sacred LAX corridor, and the cost of entry prevents new competition in the area...if these hotel owners have to raise the room rates, a few dollars...well so be it. Gas, food, housing, everything goes up. And people aren't gonna drive an hour to save five bucks on a room rate. And let's face it, people who fly to L.A. on business and can afford to stay at these hotels anyway, can afford the slight bump in room rates.

So there you have it...ZD's spin for Janice Hahn and LAX worker wage increase supporters...

Now don't attack the messenger, I'm just presenting the official ZD Legislative Review of the argument so you spin doctors know what you're up against. Plus, looks like they're working to repeal and re-deal.
