I'm not big on milestones, birthdays, anniversaries and all that warm and fuzzy B.S., but I hate to say it, cause it's gonna make the haters happy, but; the one year anniversary of Zuma Dogg at City Hall for public comment, makes me feel like it's a good point to pull the tour off the road for a minute -- or at least slow down the touring itinerary.
PEOPLE THINK I LOVE DOING THE CITY HALL ROUTINE: You can aks Matt Down, Big Joe from the Mean Streets of East LA and others...Zuma Dogg is CONSTANTLY whining that I wanna stop going to City Hall and making the radio calls and doing obsessive amounts of blogging -- plus, all the phone calls and emails that go into it. (And was after the first month.)
But, everyday the sun comes up, the birds start to chirp, I'll blaze one up, and SWEAR I'm not going today. Then, I turn on Doug Mcintyre, check the Mayor Sam blog, see the Daily News, check my voice and email messages -- AND I END UP DRIVING IN GRIDLOCK TRAFFIC, OR CALL IN ONE MORE TIME, OR BLOG ONE MORE STORY -- CAUSE I DON'T WANNA LET THOSE SHADY FRAUD, WASTE AND ABUSERS OFF THE HOOK.
But the one year anniversary, makes me feel like I proved my point that, "Zuma Dogg feels the vending ban on Venice Beach is in violation Federal Law." Capishe'?
And, with the condo-conversion; Ellis Act payment increase; affordable housing; and vacancy rates all being addressed by Council now -- and with election season over (except for LAUSD run-offs); and the Venice Beach Ordinace Injunction in proper motion -- I WOULD like to tone it down a bit for a while and enjoy some of this springtime weather i waited so long for. I'll still proably still be stopping by Coucil Chambers -- but HOPEFULLY not as much -- I HOPE!
I got a year's worth of footage for my documentary, and although I've never been big on milestones, anniversaries, and things like that, slowing down after one year, especially with the housing stuff from last week/this week, Venice -- and being able to have the opportunity/other outlets to amplify my message (documentary/LA Weekly writing/ZAP), I hope I can come off the field for a bit, and monitor the situation from ocean and mountain views, back in ZD's natural habitat. We'll see...So the main thing is, I'M BEGGING THE HATERS...Don't provoke me...Cause I really wanna take the WHOLE WEEK OFF! PLEASE?!?!? I'M BEGGING YOU.
SO, THE POINT IS -- PLEASE DON'T UNLEASH THE Z.D. AND MAKE HIM HAVE TO KEEP THE PR MACHINE IN THE RED ZONE JUST CAUSE YOU PISS ME OFF BY TRYING TO MINIMIZE COUNCIL'S RECENT GROWTH AND WILLINGNESS TO TAKE PUBLIC INPUT AND ACT ON IT THANKS TO PEOPLE LIKE NOEL WEISS AND OTHERS. So hopefully the ball is rolling, and some of the people who have been lazy, and simply "calling it in" to ZD, for him to say on radio and TV 35 can start making some phone calls and public comment apperances, theyselves.
And to all the people who say, "Zuma Dogg is a diamond in the rough." I say, "Yeah, cause I'm a big lump of coal, that society keeps pushing down on, with so much pressure." And that the other thing. Now that you a-holes woke up ZD and opened his eyes...I'm CONSTANTLY even more bitter and angry that I was when I was just bitter about my career. Now, i get bitter and angry every time I turn on the TV, radio, see a newspaper at Starbucks -- PLUS all the other stuff I encounter on the phone and in email from people. I need less AM, more FM. Less CNN, more Vh1. Less City Council meetings. More Venice Beach.
SO DON'T UNLEASH THE ZD, Y'ALL...He wants to take a Spring Break. And I can tell all ready, I got the money, chronic and energy to triumphantly stroll through Downtown chambers for public comment. I feel like driving Downtown, right now, Downtown to Chinatown. Park my van, eat some of the best quality, cheap-ass food at Lucky's Deli, hit my wi-fi spot, and before you know it -- it's 10 AM, and they're forced to say it one more time...
"Our next speaker is Zuma Dogg. Mr. Dogg." Gotta LOOOOOOOOVE the Brown Act, y'all! BUT I DON'T WANNA LOVE IT. Don't turn me into one of these desparate losers who try and squeeze out ONE MORE SEASON just cause the trainwreck is easy and fun for YOU to enjoy. Anyway, hope to see y'all soon...Just not too soon.
Yours in Management of Quality and Productivity,
Zuma Dogg
