I almost feel GUILTY if I don't spend every day blogging about L.A. City Hall fraud, waste and abuse, as the greatest political-awareness-raising and shady-busting phenomenon in the history of the U.S.
But it's been FIVE intense years since the city put their illegal Venice Beach ordinance into effect, that trampled on the 1st Amendment rights of Zuma Dogg and many others.
Since then, I became homeless and in a constant state of "HULK-STYLE" bipolar-fueled state of constant activism. And now, I am NOT homeless anymore...many of my bipolar-triggering circumstance have been mitigated...and I ALMOST feel like my previous City Hall Era self, again.
The past five years have been and always will be the best memories and most magical era of my life. And it came at a time when I thought all good times were behind me, as a former radio and record executive, who used to party at the Waldorf-Astoria with all of the inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, or MTV awards, or Grammys or Madison Square Garden.
BUT, the spiritual lesson I learned, is that is no more fun being with the people at the R & R Hall of Fame Awards ceremony as it is to hang out with the people at City Hall for public comment...AND ALL THE RANDOM STRANGERS I HAVE MET ALONG THE WAY.
LOOK HOW CAUGHT UP IN THE COMMUNITY SPIRIT I GOT!!! LOOK HOW SO MANY PEOPLE FROM ALL ACROSS THIS DIVERSE AND GIANT CITY CAPTURED MY ATTENTION AND COMPASSION WITH THEIR STORIES OF HOW CITY HALL WAS SCREWING THEM AND MAKING THEIR LIVES MISERABLE.
And, for a bipolar guy like me...it meant CONSTANTLY going into battle mode in council chambers, on the phone and on the blog to try and change the person's situation -- or at least expose it, toward the goal of shutting down the shadiness.
BUT DAMN...EVEN MOTLEY CREW COMES OFF THE ROAD FOR A BREAK BETWEEN TOURS.
BUT, in MY SITUATION: I hope it's more like a one-hit wonder or former sitcom/movie star who is retired from their former gig and move on to something else.
In my situation, that moving on...is moving BACK to what I used to do. And that was being the greatest and most entertaining comedy, music, and overall improv performer in human history.(The activism was an extension of "Zuma Dogg" that ended up being the entire act, for a while. Like when Pink Floyd stuck to only performing "The Wall" on one of their tours.)
And since October 2010 (thru last week) -- I REALLY hit with my most furious blog frenzy EVER...and all I can say...is there really isn't NEED for me to do much more.
My version of "L.A. Clean Sweep" doesn't happen at the polls. It happens on Wilshire Blvd in the FEDERAL building or in Eric Holder's U.S. Attorney's Office.
And I just voted, since October 2010 until last week.
TIME FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD TO GET BACK TO BEING ABLE TO ENJOY "ZUMA DOGG." -- THEY HAD ME FIRST, Y'ALL...and based on the time I had in Malibu on Wednesday for karaoke...they want me back, y'all. And L.A. City activists are small-minded, small-picture, nutty-f*cks. (They're dragging my brain down...PLEASE LEAVE ME OUT OF YOUR REINDEER GAMES...but of course, I hope many of you stick around for the fun.)
LIFE ISN'T (CAN'T BE FOR ME, AT LEAST) ALL ABOUT ANOTONIO & COUNCIL...IF IT IS...YOU HAVE A PROBLEM...and I'm trying to break MY pattern on that one, cause it's a nice day outside and when I step out my door, I can see the ocean. BUT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWNTOWN, FIRST THING IN THE MORNING TO ATTEND L.A. CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS THAT I KNOW WILL PISS ME OFF??? That is #NOTWINNING.
