(09/07/06, 8:00am) COUNCILMEMBER JACK WEISS SPEAKS TO DOUG MCINTYRE ON
790-AM, KABC RADIO. [aka: "The new people's voice of Los Angeles!"]:
DOUG MCINTYRE: "Everybody whose in office at any level including
community leaders who don't have "official" elected offices, or
business leaders who don't want to invest in Los Angeles, and many
ARE. But, it occured to me, that whether you want to beautify the
Los Angeles River or plant a million trees along it, or whatever the
vision is for the future of Los Angeles, is completley subvertted by
having 30,000 identified Gang members running loose, and who knows HOW
MANY MORE UNIDENTIFIED, who are shooting people with impunity and it
begs the question: 'Why does the City goverment TALK about ANYTHING
other than this, until we get a grip on this problem'." [See, I NEVER
could have thrown out the word, "impunity" the way Doug did, y'all!!!)
COUNCILMEMBER JACK WEISS: "I think you're absolutley right. I
agree, crime IS the number one issue for local governement. If you
don't get public saftey right, it doesnt matter WHAT ELSE you get
right. But there are a lot of other factors that CONTRIBUTE to crime:
Education: That's why The Mayor has been so passionate about education
reform." [Z.D. says "Excuse me! EDUCATION is a factor that
contributes to crime. So you're trying to blame LAUSD for the crime in
the City. Well, CM Weiss, thanks for letting the people listening and
reading know, that YOU are one of The Mayor's back-pocket puppets.]
CM WEISS (Cont.): "Economic issues, social issues...But, at it's core,
it comes down to cops on the beat -- and that's why Chief Bratton, Mayor
Villagrosa and others, pushed so strongly this year for a new funding
source to hire 1000 new cops. 1000 new cops WILL NOT do the job in
L.A.. But, it's a very strong, important start.
We're going to be raising money from people. It's not gonna be a tax.
[Z.D: I can her the guy in that scene from "Animal House" now..."It's NOT
gonna be an orgy, I mean tax hike."] But, it's gonna LOOK like a tax
to people. If we do that well, we'll go back and ask for more."
DOUG MCINTYRE: "1000 new cops, after attrition, is only about 200 new
cops. (Early retirements, hard to find new recruits, good recruits go
eleswhere outside of L.A. for better pay.) It's not enough to get the
job done."
CM WEISS: "Keeping up with recruitment means sending 700 new recruits
to the Police Academy for training, each year. And it's getting
harder and harder to find new recruits who can meet the level of
standards and training required to become LAPD."
ZUMA DOGG: "So basically, due to losing all the viable possible LAPD
recruits from the communities to Gangs, who were forced to join the
gang -- not because they wanted to, but because it was the only way they
could be protected to walk the streets to school, if they even wanted to do that.
So it's a double hit. First we lose people from the community to
Gangs, who would otherwise be great LAPD recruits to help keep the
streets safe for kids to walk to and from school/bus stops...Then, we
don't have any people left to become LAPD. And anyone that MIGHT want
to, well the Academy Training/Education requirements will filter out a
bunch more people that would be more than good enough to patrol the
streets as LAPD uniformed officers, to keep the streets safe, while
Bratton has his more experienced, more valuable cops work to fight
terrorism in the City for the entire U.S./National saftey, since no one's doing anything to enforce the borders, as he is working so hard to do, and requires him
to travel way more than he wants to.
And Mayor V. I CANNOT BELIEVE you will not give Chief Bratton the
Gang Czar he requested to oversee the $80 Million used for "Crime
Reduction Units" (Community based, non-profit, non-City of L.A./LAPD
personel.
Opponents of money for "Community based policing" say the money is
being wasted, because Chief Bratton says it's being wasted. That's
why he's asking to have someone appointed to co-ordinate all the
single, individual efforts throughout the city, which means it might
improve efficiency, and we can get a little (or a lot) more of The
People and City's moneys worth, y'all.
SO MAYOR V.: Don't make it look like you're standing in the way of
public saftey on the streets of the most dangerous areas of your
domain. You wanna help LAUSD and the kids academic standards, let
Cheif Bratton try what he wants to help fix it, y'all. Don't
worry, The Chief doesn't care about who gets credit, Z.D. & Cheif Bratton will give you ALL of the credit, for allowing it to happen via your approval for the
money to hire Bratton's employee to co-ordinate the spending of the
$80 million, he says is being wasted. (Especially since your muppet,
Jack Weiss, just said a factor in crime in L.A. is education. He even
mentioned and explained it, first, above all other crime factors the city is facing.)
DOUG MCINTYRE: Referring to LAPD's inability to crack down on illegal immigrant criminals. [ZD: And did I hear, FBI/INS says 95% of murders in the nation, are at the hands of illegal immigration?]
CM JACK WEISS: "That's not the City of Los Angeles' fault. That is the Federal government..."
DOUG M: "EXCUSE ME, with all due respect, the Chairman of the 9-11 Commission says, it IS the City of Los Angeles' fault, because it creates a sanctuary or illegals, which allows the gangbangers to operate un-mollested."
CM JACK WEISS: "I think the United States of America has not done a good job of enforcing laws at the border, or putting proper controls in place at the border. [ZD: Way to pass the Bill, I mean buck, there is no Bill.] We need to demand more from the government in Washington, because ULTIMATLEY, this is a NATIONAL problem."
PUBLIC ADVOCATE ZUMA DOGG: "You're damn right in Washington?' Because you and your puppet master, Mayor Tony V., are nit's a national problem! Jack, who should I call to, 'Demand more from the government!', since you and your puppet master Mayor Tony V. are NOT."
