ZUMA DOGG's response to one reader's comment/question over some financial issues regarding the vending ban on Venice Beach (Ordinance 42.15):
How do you feel about THIS sign that is displayed on the performers space. (Not a vending space, a performers space, and performers are exempt from the vending ban of certain sales. (if you don't like THAT, fix the loophole, but don't try and illegally enforce something covered by a loophole (aka: protecction of expression). Not trying to be a wise guy, these are the issues. BUT, you are talking about tax issues....SO HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS SIGN THAT IS DISPLAYED AS PART OF THE FIRST AMEMDMENT EXPRESSION THAT WE ARE TRYING TO EXPRESS. AND, the FEDS say you are allowed to accept donations to help cover the cost of transportation to get there, the cost of paint and canvas (if you are a painter), or the cost of the incense you need to help communicate you message to ALL of the five senses (since smell is the #1 memory trigger, to remind them of the messages we are trying to express." Or if you handmake religious symbols like crosses, and put a chain around it, so you "hang the message around you neck, like a billboard or sign to display your message.
NOW PLAYING: World renowned guitarist, Matt Dowd "LIVE" on Venice Beach.
DONATATIONS WELCOME!
------------------------------------------
MATT DOWD is creator of his exclusive incense fragrance called "Pacific Breeze". He makes each and every bag, by hand. First by mixing the difference sence of mango, straberry, ....oils. Then mixes the oils onto the incense sticks, byhand, right here on the boardwalk, throught the day.
Smell is the most poweful of the five senses when it comes to "memory" actually. (Smells trigger memories more than any other of the four senses. So Matt burns the incense while he plays, so that you can take some incense home with you, to burn at home, so you can help remember you wonderful experience at Los Angeles' number one tourist attrication, Venice Beach, California. Where you enjoyed protected expressions/performances by Matt Dowd, Zuma Dogg, Tony Vera, Tony B. Concsious, Spirit of Venice, The Guy Who Playes Piano Right There on the Boardwalk, the acrobats, the singers, the dancers, the artists, and everyone else known around the world as "the greatest place in the world", just for that reason.
And of course for all who depend on the spritually communicative effect incense play a part of in your interpicably interwined religous ceremonies, we feel these are the perfect "uplifiing' scent, that isn't too smokey or heavy.
